The Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs of the Republic of India, V Muraleedharan, announced that the number of Indians living in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has crossed 3.5 million.
The Indian Minister announced the latest migration numbers at a session of the Lok Sabha, the lower house of India’s bicameral Parliament.
India’s Minister of State for External Affairs revealed that around 3.554 million Indians currently live in the UAE, an increase from 3.419 million at the end of the last year. The Indian minister said that the Indians preferred the UAE for work purposes.
The UAE attracts an influx of Indian talent. The Indian government has also set up Overseas Indian Help Centres in Dubai, a city in the UAE, to help Indians.
The Gulf countries are famous among Indians. Reportedly, many Indians are living in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Oman. The Indian government has also established help centers in Riyadh, a city in Saudi Arabia, Jeddah, another city in Saudi Arabia, and Kuala Lumpur, a city in Malaysia.
In January, India’s Minister of State for External Affairs visited Dubai, UAE. He also addressed over 1,000 pupils at the Indian High School in the city. The Indian Minister reportedly said, “You can work anywhere you like but have India in your heart. We say Indian youth have transformed the whole world into their workplace.”

In recent years, India and the UAE have established good relations. The two countries also increased trade. The UAE and India also signed a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement to boost trade between the two countries.
Last month, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also visited the UAE, the fifth visit since 2014. The Indian leader also held talks with the UAE President, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
