ICC Backs UAE as Women’s WC Host;
ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice thanked the Emirati Cricket Board for stepping in to host the tournament at the last moment. He stated, “It’s a shame not to host the Women’s WC in Bangladesh as we know the BCB would have staged a memorable event.”
“I would like to thank the team from BCB for exploring all avenues to try and enable the event to be hosted in Bangladesh, but travel advisors from the governments of a number of participating teams meant that wasn’t feasible.”
“I would like to thank the Emirates Cricket Board for stepping in to host on the behalf of BCB and Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe for their generous offers of support, and we look forward to hosting ICC tournaments there in 2026.”
Countries Participating in the Tournament;
Defending Champions Australia will be looking forward to retaining the feather after defeating 9 nations. The top 6 nations list includes England, India, South Africa, New Zealand, and the West Indies other than Australia.
While the UAE is the host, Bangladesh still qualifies for the tournament and may send a team. The last 3 spots will be taken by Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Scotland.
