Any foreign national staying in the UAE must have a valid visa. With so much to handle, one can easily forget the expiration date of your visa. Knowing how to check on your visa status is very helpful for many reasons. You need a valid visa for you to rent a home or bring family members into the UAE, among other things.
Online Methods to Check Your Visa Status
The UAE government has made checking your visa status easy online. Here are the two main ways:
1. Using the ICP Smart Services Website
This method works for all UAE visas:
- Access the website of ICP smart services
- Hit “Passport Information”
- Now, select “Visa” or “Residency”
- Type in your passport number and when it expires.
- Select your country
- Click the box to prove you’re not a robot
- Press “Search”
Unless you have filled everything out right, you will see all your visa information, including when it expires.
2. Through the GDRFA Website (for Dubai visas only)
If you have a Dubai visa:
- Log in to the GDRFA website – https://www.gdrfad.gov.ae/en
- Click on “Services” then “Visa Status”
- From the dropdown, select “File”
- Input your file number. You can find this on your passport’s visa page.
- Type your first name and select your country
- Input your birth date
- Type in the security code shown on the screen
- Click “Submit”
In case everything is OK, you will notice your visa details in green color.
Check Visa Status through Your Phone
There’s also a Dubai visa check app. Download the GDRFA Dubai app.
- Open it and tap “Services”.
- Tap “Entry Permit / Residence Status” then “Residence Inquiry”.
- Enter your visa code, name, country, and birth date.
- Tap “Inquiry”.
You will see a green checkmark with your visa details if all is well.
Helpful Tip
Keep a picture of your passport on your phone or a copy in your wallet so you can refer to that information anytime when you need to check your visa status and do not have your passport with you.
