On Tuesday, the health ministry in Gaza said that 1,042 people have been killed in the Palestinian territory since Israel restarted its large-scale strikes on March 18, 2025. Israel has relaunched its military campaign after a ceasefire lasted roughly a couple of months.
The death toll includes 41 people killed in the past 24 hours, according to the ministry. It has also been reported that the total number of fatalities in Gaza had reached 50,399 since the conflict started on October 7, 2023.
The UN agency for Palestine refugees recently confirmed that 408 humanitarian personnel have been killed in the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the conflict, including 280 members of the agency. Extreme concerns are being raised around these figures.
Philippe Lazzarini, commissioner general of the UN agency, has expressed alarm about the confirmed deaths of agency staff, emphasising that targeting emergency responders or aid personnel constitutes a blatant disregard for international rules.
