Epic road trip from UAE to Oman: Here's your guide

Oman belongs to the countries in the Middle East. There you can find nice deserts, mountains, beaches, and old cities. This article will give you all the information you need for a 2-week road trip around Northern Oman. You will need to hire a car with 4-wheel drive. You will start and end in the capital city, Muscat. You will drive about 1,500 km (930 miles) in total.

Days 1-3: Looking around Muscat 

  • Walk around the old city
  • Visit the big mosque
  • Go to museums 
  • Take a boat ride at sunset
  • Try diving in the sea

Days 4-6: Drive to Sur and See Wadis

  • Drive east to the town of Sur. On the way, stop at:
  • A big sinkhole filled with blue water
  • Beautiful canyons w/ pools called wadis
  • In Sur, see how traditional boats are made.

Days 7-8: Camping in the Desert and Visiting an Old City

Drive into the desert and overnight camp. You can ride camels and watch the sunset over the dunes. Then visit Nizwa, an old city with a big fort.

Days 9-11: Ancient Tombs and Mountain Hiking

From Nizwa take day trips to visit:

  • Ancient castles
  • 5 000-year-old mysterious stone tombs
  • Then drive into the mountains. Take cliff edge walks with great views.

Days 12-14: Beach Relaxation

Spend the last few days at a beach resort. Warm waters and soft sand await. Drink one last cup of Omani coffee on the last day before flying home.
