HH Sheikh Ahmed, Chairman and CEO of Emirates, highlighted the airline’s plans to use modern wide-body aircraft for long-haul travel. The new aircraft will expand Emirates’ footprint and add 400 cities to the international business map over the next decade in line with Dubai’s budget.
Boeing’s order includes 55 777-9s and 35 777-8s, taking Emirates’ 777-X order book to a total of 205 units. The airline also confirmed that it has ordered 202 GE9X engines to power these additional 777Xs. This underlines Emirates’ position as a major player in the airline industry.
