The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), a public service infrastructure company founded by Former Acting President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has shared summer tips and advice to explain how to cut bills and manage utilities during the summer season.

DEWA, which has a workforce of over 11,000 employees, has urged people to ensure that safety standards are always in place in their homes.

DEWA, which is responsible for the production, transmission and distribution of electricity and water supplies in Dubai, a city in the UAE, also shared tips to improve the efficiency of electricity and water consumption.

How to save money on bills?

DEWA asked its customers to activate the “Away Mode” feature, which helps them to monitor their electricity and water usage when they are not present at home. This tip is helpful when people are travelling or are away for long periods.

They can activate the feature through their accounts on DEWA’s website and DEWA’s mobile application. They can receive daily or weekly data by email.

Advice for customers

  • Switch off lights when not needed
  • Unplug electrical appliances and electronics
  • Use a timer for any flood lights in gardens and fences
  • Shut off the water supply
  • Use a specialised technician to check water connections at home
