Deep-rooted UAE-China diplomatic relations
The planned Dubai Business Forum-China can bring together major stakeholders from the public and private sectors in both the UAE and China. Experts are all set to discuss economic partnerships, develop international relations and explore investment opportunities.
In May, UAE President HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed embarked on a high-profile state visit to China, after concluding a trip to South Korea. He met his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping to discuss ties and opportunities to expand Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
The UAE and China established diplomatic ties in 1984 and have since been close partners. The UAE has a consulate general in Hong Kong and an Embassy in Beijing. China has a consulate general in Dubai and an Embassy in Abu Dhabi.
Recent years have seen a notable increase in bilateral economic and trade cooperation. By 2023, bilateral trade had already reached $95 billion. In 2018, Xi made a state visit to the UAE, becoming the first Chinese head of state to visit the Gulf state in the previous 29 years.
