Dubai becoming a baseball hub in the Middle East? UAE megacity to host 3 major baseball events soon

Dubai looks to be a home for baseball in the Middle East and SouthEast Asia. The announcement was made yesterday, August 1 by Baseball United as they look to come back for the second season after a successful season last november.

Event 1: Arab Classic

The first event will be seeing 8 national teams across the continent pitted against each other in the Arab classic field. The city of Dubai will host the tournament that will feature India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Saudi Arabia, and Afghanistan competing against each other.

The Arab Classic is the biggest baseball national tournament in the history of the Middle East. and will be held between November 7, i.e. thursday and Sunday i.e. November 10. The rules are usually going to be similar to the World Baseball Classic, the World Cup of Baseball with a few regional modifications.

Event 2: Baseball United Cup

The next event is the Baseball United Cup that would be held in February 2025. The tournament would see former Major league baseball stars and local talent join hands in franchises representing cities across the UAE, Pakistan and India. Arabia Wolves would represent Dubai, Mid East Falcons are the Abu Dhabi Franchise, Pakistan has Karachi Monarchs, and Mumbai Cobras represent the Indian financial capital, Mumbai. 

These 4 teams were part of the inaugural season of Baseball United Cup held in November 2023. This time there is a short twist that would feature a round robin format beginning from February 22 where the teams can decide who to play in the semis before facing the finale on Saturday March 1.

Event 3: League Season – Name Undisclosed

Finally there is a full league season featuring the above four teams along with a new Riyadh based team but the details are not yet announced. This inaugural league season will have the 5 teams play 12 regular season matches before the stats declare the winner by best of 3 series compared between the top two contenders. All 33 matches are to be held in 32 days in Dubai. Top level MLB stars are taking part in this season making it more exciting. 

Tickets for the Arab Classic will go on sale from next month with full ticket details to be revealed at a later date. The people who wants to buy the tickets should check up the organisers website.
