CGGI 2025: UAE ranked 9th globally for strong governance

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) made the top 10 of the Chandler Good Government Index (CGGI) for the first time in 2025, primarily due to improvements in financial stewardship and amending institutional capabilities in the country. The UAE is the only Middle Eastern country listed in the top 20 of the CGGI results, underscoring leadership in governance practices in the region. The CGGI measures countries in terms of ownership in leadership capabilities, finance, and institutional strength.
The UAE is improving their position on the CGGI rankings as they are making effective governance a priority and making direct investments in institutional capabilities. This also demonstrates the UAE’s role as an example of good governance practices in the Middle East.
