Why CBSE Cancelled the Exams

CBSE indicated that the move was made on the basis of visiting the ground and weighing the safety of the students in the prevailing situation in the region. The board had earlier declared a circular on March 1st and delayed the examinations as the tension increased after the joint attack of Israel and the US on Iran. It gave another circular on March 15, guaranteeing that the delayed papers also would be cancelled.

On March 5, the board had already made a similar step in the case of Class 10 students, cancelling their examinations in such countries.

What Happens Next for Students

CBSE has made it clear that it is about to release a new circular as to how it will declare results to the affected Class 12 students. This is particularly critical since even though certain examinations had been taken earlier in the cycle, most of the examinations were not possible.

Students and parents are awaiting an explanation on whether the board will adopt internal assessment, average marks, or another method of evaluation that will be used for the final results.

What Students and Parents Should Do Now

In the meantime, the affected students must:

  • Keep in touch with the formal CBSE circulars.
  • Get in contact with their school administration.
  • Wait until the policy of declaration of results.
  • Does not need to focus on unauthoritative social media assertions.
