UAE Launches ‘One Million Lebanese AI Experts’ Programme With Lebanon

The UAE and Lebanon on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UNGA have initiated the programme One Million Lebanese AI Experts. This was after a meeting between UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Lebanese Prime Minister Dr Nawaf Salam.

UAE and Lebanon Expand AI Cooperation

The programme is a part of the GEEP which helps share government expertise, knowledge and practices between UAE and partner countries. The new project aims at bringing AI education to the unreached people of Lebanon.

The programme’s goal is to give the participants hands-on experience with generative artificial intelligence. It covers AI basics, prompt engineering, and real-world applications of AI in business and personal endeavors.

One Million Lebanese Targeted for AI Training

The programme’s goal is to engage in a million participants, as the name suggests. The initiative is expected to engage individuals across a spectrum of age, job role or industry, and not already working in the technology sphere.

Exposing students, professionals, entrepreneurs and public-sector employees to generative AI tools could help them more widely. The programme aims at expanding the access to these skills in order to facilitate the development of digital capability in Lebanon.

Focus on Generative AI and Prompt Engineering

Rapid engineering is a crucial aspect of this programme, with a focus on developing well-structured and efficient instructions for AI systems. The participants should be able to communicate with generative AI applications and utilize them in a practical manner.

Additionally, the course includes an emphasis on the applications of AI within the business environment. These skills can enable users to experiment with how they could automate mundane tasks, how these skills can enhance productivity, and how they might design a technology-based solution to meet various job needs.

UAE-Lebanon Cooperation in New York

At the UNGA 81, both Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed and Prime Minister Nawaf Salam briefed each other on other issues of bilateral cooperation. In the course of their discussions the possibility was explored to enhance knowledge sharing and institutional development and human-capital projects were discussed.

Cooperation between the two countries with the AI programme also includes a technology and skills-development strand. It also advanced the digital competences and artificial intelligence, which are increasingly becoming important for the government and also in the field of economic development.

What the Programme Could Mean for Lebanon?

The project aims to raise awareness and the practical use of AI for a significant part of the Lebanese community. The increasing availability of digital training may offer the participants opportunities to acquire skills that are applicable both to education and other sectors, such as business, public administration.
