The long queues at Dubai International Airport can cause unnecessary delays. Dubai Airports and the GDRFA have introduced the Smart Gates PreCheck feature in the Dubai Smart Pocket Flights Mobile Portal to improve arrivals and departures. The service will enable travellers to confirm “Smart Gate” eligibility in seconds, with just a smart phone and passport.

How to Check Your Eligibility?

Using your mobile device, go to dxb.pocketflights.com directly on a terminal or use one of the Smart Gates PreCheck QR codes that have been placed around all of the terminals at DXB.

Then, choose Smart Gates PreCheck, and give your browser permission to use your phone camera. Unfold your passport to the photograph page and place within the scantile. The system inputs the passport information and compares it to the GDRFA biometric database.

Within a few seconds, you’ll receive your result. You can go straight to the Smart Gates for automatic facial recognition, if applicable. Otherwise, you will have to use the normal immigration desk where you will be able to register your biometrics for future travel.

Who Can Use DXB Smart Gates?

Eligible UAE visa on arrival holders, GCC nationals, UAE residents and passengers who have yet to register their biometrics upon arrival are eligible to take the Smart Gates. The automated gates also require the travelers to be taller than 1.2-meter.

Helpful Travel Tips

A first-time UAE visa-on-arrival traveller will be subjected to manual immigration once before they can use the ‘Smart Gates’ on subsequent visits.

Infants, children under height standard and persons in manual wheelchairs should go to the counters of immigration for the family/assisted immigration. The Smart Gates will require face coverings, hats and sunglasses be removed before use to ensure correct facial identification.
