UAE social media users asked to adhere to national policies on digital platforms
The National Media Office has reiterated the importance of UAE social media users upholding national policies and principles of respect, tolerance and co-existence. Netizens are encouraged to adhere to ethical and legal standards for digital platform use.
In an official statement, the Office emphasised the prohibition of content that abuses or disparages public figures, friendly countries or national symbols. Engaging in such acts could result in legal action.
The UAE seeks a safe and balanced digital space that encourages mutual respect. The statement also cautioned that proliferating hate speech, defamation or misleading information is subject to strict legal penalties.
Highlighting the guidelines set by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, the National Media Office urged social media users to embody the morals of the UAE’s leadership that sets an example in high ethical standards.
