UAE pioneer in ensuring safe working conditions, says UAHR on International Labour Day
On the occasion of International Labour Day 2024, also called May Day, the Union Association for Human Rights acknowledged the UAE’s position as a global leader in ensuring safe, decent and respectful working conditions for all.
It highlighted the importance of the UAE’s regulations, legislation and initiatives in achieving a comprehensive and unique system that protects people’s rights and fulfils its international human rights commitments, as per official media reports.
UAE’s commitment to ensuring safe working conditions
Dr Fatima Khalifa Al Kaabi, president of the association, acknowledged the Gulf state’s commitment to establishing an integrated system that protects the human and social rights of workers. This commitment demonstrates the nation’s leadership’s vision.
She emphasised the significance of the initiatives taken by the UAE to harness all possibilities and capabilities to improve working conditions for all and to embark on achieving the main objectives that make the country a global leader in the field of labour rights.
The president also noted the UAE’ remarkable position in global indicators, including ranking first in the “Talent Attractiveness Index”, as per the Global Prosperity Index 2023 by the UK’s Legatum Institute. The nation’s performance in other indicators has also been impressive.
In conclusion, she expressed her appreciation for all workers, recognising their vital contributions to national development and global leadership. She emphasised the importance of securing their rights and respecting their dignity for a brighter future.
