Mike Tyson-Jake Paul fight: Iron Mike believes UAE ‘could become a main hub for boxing’
In the main match of a blockbuster Netflix event in Texas on Friday, Jake Paul has beaten the legendary boxer Mike Tyson via unanimous decision. The fight belonged to Paul as he scored 78 points against Tyson’s 74, according to the unofficial scorecard.
Paul made a comeback after losing the first couple of rounds to Tyson. Tyson made a return to the ring after a long 19-year hiatus. Initially set to happen in June 2024, the match got postponed after an ulcer flared up for Tyson.
On the day of the match, both fighters proudly proclaimed that they are not going to lose. Paul predicted a knockout and Tyson aimed for a vicious victory. Paul had to take a tough test in the initial rounds, but fatigue and age possibly caught up to Tyson later on.
Mike Tyson has said that the UAE “could become a main hub for boxing” if the country can attract Joshua to fight. He had been in Dubai recently to announce plans for the Mike Tyson academy, a franchise of fitness and boxing centres set to open across the globe.
The remaining matches in the Netflix event on Friday also presented great outcomes. Spectators in Dallas possibly had a fun time. Katie Taylor and Serrano also put on a tough fight just before the Tyson-Paul match.
